Dr Pua Uei read medicine in the National University of Singapore and received his post-graduate training in diagnostic radiology in Singapore. He obtained the Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) and Masters of Medicine (Diagnostic Radiology) and was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). He currently serves as a senior consultant and Head of the Interventional Radiology Service.
An active researcher, his work is documented in more than 190 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over more than 400 lectures in over 20 countries. He has led outreach programs providing relevant IR training in developing countries such as Myanmar, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Latvia, and Kazakhstan. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, had received various educator awards including “Role Model” citation, “Best Teacher” and Special Recognition Award.
Dr. Pua has held several leadership positions, including President of the Singapore Radiological Society (2012-2016), inaugural Chair of the Chapter of Interventional Radiologists at the Academy of Medicine Singapore (2021-2025), Founding and Board Member of the Society of Interventional Oncology (2018-2024) and Board Member of the CLI Global Society. A domain expert in both vascular intervention and interventional oncology, his innovative work has been featured in multiple major media outlets including Channel NewsAsia, MediaCorps news channels and print press (The Straits Times, ZaoBao, Berita Harian).
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Pua has been elected as a Fellow in several prestigious societies. In interventional radiology, he is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (FCIRSE). In endovascular intervention, he is a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
